This time of year, we send renewal reminders to chapter members who haven’t renewed for the year. We’d like to get the renewals in before the last two programs of the fiscal year, and before chapter elections for next year. (coming up soon). If you are a chapter member, and haven’t sent in your renewal, please use this invoice to pay your dues.

The purpose of an HR function is to support people and organizations in being effective, productive, and successful. HR departments have been transitioning from transactional to strategic business partners to be successful in meeting these expectations. The current environment of reduced funding, added stress to “do more with less” and a sense of uncertainty and confusion in the minds of employees has established a significant increase in the importance of HR playing a strategic role within an organization. Inaction or doing what we have always done while waiting for things to return to “normal” are not meaningful options. Board Secretary Rob Koch is our presenter for this workshop.

Join us on Thursday, May 17, 2012 for a half-day highly interactive workshop we will explore how HR teams can raise the bar on what and how they contribute to their organizations by changing their paradigms, enhancing their competencies, building strategic relationships with their internal partners, aligning the human talent with the organization’s strategies, creating an employee development culture, and building a best place to work culture.

Chapter Members to Vote on Bylaws Amendments in February

The IPMA Oregon chapter Board has reviewed the Chapter bylaws and noted a few areas that were missing. The highlights of the changes are as follows and are also marked as tracked changes in this downloadable PDF file. The changes:

1) If the chapter dissolves, any funds of the chapter would be sent to IPMA-HR national.

2) Add a conflict of interest clause.

3) Would allow voting on chapter matters to be conducted electronically.

4) Would allow the board to set dues as deemed appropriate for operating the chapter.

Per the bylaws any amendments must be presented to the membership 30 days in advance of a vote. Look for a subsequent notice in February for voting.
