Greetings members and friends,
It is a new year for the IPMA-HR Oregon chapter! Fall is upon us, school is in session, and it’s time for us all to dust off our learning hats. This October we will be offering a great session on Understanding the Origins of Conflict, Communicating Expectations, and Managing Behavior. Jill Goldsmith, Workplace Solutions Northwest, will deconstruct the six stages of unproductive conflict and define and explain productive communication to foster a culture of clear communication and accountability. This will be a very informative and practical session for our members and for managers alike. This is our first session for the 11-12 year and we hope to see a great turnout. Mark your calendars for the morning of Friday, October, 14, and encourage others within your organization to attend. Event details and registration are attached.
This year we will be offering a couple of half day sessions to cover more complex subjects. Below, you will find the seminar lineup, brought to you by several returning board members and a few new board members:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2011: Understanding the Origins of Conflict, Communicating Expectations, & Managing Behavior
NOVEMBER 10 – Building & Maintaining Relationships with Union in tough Economy
JANUARY 12 –Classification and Compensation
MARCH 8 –Strategic Planning and Strategic Business Partnerships
APRIL 12 – The Bermuda Triangle – ADA, FMLA, and Workers’ Compensation
JUNE 14 – 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Also, the board has been discussing methods to reach our members and potential members outside of the Portland-Metro area. We will provide more information as we design that program.
I look forward to seeing you at the October event!
Sincerely,
Andrea Villagrana
President, IPMA-HR Oregon Chapter
