Western Regional IPMA-HR Award Nominations

The Western Region IPMA-HR Board has created an awards program to recognize agencies and individuals who are stars within IPMA-HR. The Awards Program includes The Muriel M. Morse Achievement Award and the Agency Awards for Excellence.

The Muriel M. Morse Achievement Award is presented to a member of our organization who exemplifies the positive attributes that made Muriel Morse a memorable individual.

The Agency Awards for Excellence Award Criteria will be based on program initiatives, accomplishments, and contributions within a three-year period immediately preceding the nomination. A maximum of four awards may be given in one year. The Western Region will recognize one agency award in each of the following categories, based on the number of employees covered by your human resources program:
• Small (Under 500 employees)
• Medium (500 – 1,999 employees)
• Large Agency (2,000 – 9,999 employees)
• Very Large (10,000 employees and over)

For more details or to nominate a peer or an agency; go to http://www.wripma-hr.org/Conference2009/Awards.htm

Submissions are due March 3, 2009.

2009 Memberships

It’s time for Oregon Chapter members to pay dues for 2009.  E-mail dues statements will be arriving shortly. To get a head start, members can download the application from the membership page, or directly.

In addition to the great benefits offered by the chapter, the Board has made no increase in rates for individual agency members (still only $35 a year), and realigned the non-national membership rates to be more in line with encouraging national IPMA-HR memberships.

New IPMA-HR Certified Professional

Janet Newport, Assistant to the City Manager/Human Resources Director for the City of Silverton, received her certified professional designation from IPMA-HR.   Executive Director Neil Reichenberg announced that 19 individuals received IPMA-CP designations in January.

Congratulations, Janet.

Three IPMA-HR Oregon Chapter Board members recently accepted new positions.

Most recently, Megan Phelan, IPMA-CP, PHR, has moved from the City of Wilsonville to become Human Resources Director for the City of Lake Oswego.

Mary Rowe, IPMA-CP, has moved from the City of Milwaukie to become Human Resources Director for Metro in Portland.

Pat Robertson Anderson, SPHR, has moved from NorthWest Senior and Disability Services to become Human Resources/Risk Manager for Yamhill County.

Contact info for all is included in the newly updated Board roster.
